You know you're getting old when...

...your teenage daughter says, "Hold on Mom, let me get that gray hair on the side of your head."

...or you have a teenage daughter. And you can wear each others clothes. Actually that's not to bad. Either I dress too young or she dresses too old.

Ugh! I turned 36 today. Half my life so far as an adult, the other half a kid. Yes, I do have a few gray hairs. Maybe that's why my SIL wanted to give me highlights? Hmm? Anyway, I am only as old as I feel. Fortunately, I don't feel old, yet. There are few things that have crept up on me. Can't do roller coasters much anymore. They give me bad headaches and it makes my sciatic nerve even worse. Pop a few Advil and continue on. My endurance is almost shot, but like I said, Advil. So for now, I will try to keep up with my kids so as to not hold them back from having fun.

Wow, I guess I do feel kinda old.

I wanted to say "thank you" to all the well wishers out there who told me happy birthday. It meant a lot. It was a good day. Went and got my license renewed. Had lunch with Trevor and Rance. Then my parents came over and took us all out to eat and cake. It was fun.

Phone conversation with Grace

Rosie (Grandma) in the background: "Tell Keri what you got."

Grace: "What did I get?"

Rosie: "A new baby."

Grace: "Oh yeah. A new baby!"

Me: "Really! I think she looks like you."

Grace: "Yeah, a little, but she's naked."

Love it!

Be sure and check out little miss Sophie at Flo's blog. Too sweet for words.

Finally

I know a lot of you are on pins and needles about the wet bar progress. Well, the painting has been done for a couple of months now and I am just getting to update. (birthdays and holidays took over any spare time) I chose a color called Slice. Not sure how they came up with that one but it works. I still haven't decided to use the glaze or not. Maybe I will do a test area just to see. It sure would bring out the texture. I chose a flush mount light to replace to bun warmers. They put off just the right amount of light.
Next is the floor. I spent a couple of hours one Saturday scraping the backing and glue off the slab from the old linoleum. What a pain, and then to see there are gouges in the slab that need to be filled. So much for staining. Looks like it will have to be painted instead. Any other flooring option will cause to much of a transition from the brick. Right now, both floors are level. IDK, maybe I could get away with staining it. We'll see.

Paaaarrtay!

The party started out with a few dance moves while the kids watched themselves on TV,

then pin the tail on the donkey, and a "Melmo" pinata.

Hit it harder Kaitlyn!

Go Ally!
The party stayed indoors since it was raining, but that didn't stop everyone from having a good time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
RANCEY!

Ornaments

Each year, the kids get a new ornament to hang on the tree. I try to pick one that represents something important to the kids from some point in the year.

I picked this pretty cross for Bri because of her growing faith in Christ.
Colton has a baseball frame for his great season.
Rance got a "Melmo" for his new found interest in Sesame Street.
This is a silver charm with the July birthstone in it. I bought it soon after losing Landon and each year I hang it at the top of the tree. This is his only earthly ornament but I can just imagine the ornaments he has in heaven.

Merry Christmas

The parka

In the previous post, there is a pic of the ice tunnel which is one of the first things you see as you enter. We got to the end and Rance leans over and tries to lick the wall of ice! I yelled "NO" and reached to grab him just in time. Whew.

Kinda funny thinking back on it. But glad he missed that chance. ;)

Thanksgiving Holiday Fun

We spent Black Friday at the Gaylord Texan's ICE exhibit.
Colton in front of one of the coffee shops.
A sports fans' dream: 52 foot screen in the sports bar.
Colton and the in-laws waiting on lunch.
Bri not aware I was taking her picture.
Checking out the decorations while waiting in line.
Heavy parkas required for the 9 degree temps.
The smallest size they had for Rance was the same as Colton's.
Old man winter blowing snow.
The ice tunnel.
Coca cola polar bears.
Bri walking through the candy cane house.
An ice elf.
Ice angel.
Ice nativity.

Ginger Bread House.
All of this makes me cold just looking at it.
Brrrrr!!!!
